Grading 4 Lakers trade deadline targets ranging from no-brainer to please reconsider
The 2023-24 season has been quite an inconsistent one for the Los Angeles Lakers, as their 26-25 record has been the epitome of mediocre. The Lakers have proven capable of beating anyone on any given night, while also displaying the capability of losing to anyone on any given night.
As it stands, the Lakers would be playing in the play-in tournament, which would be okay for a team without two formidable superstar players, much less one of the greatest players of all-time. But not for a team with a tradition of raising championship banners in their home arena.
Which is why we've seen the cryptic social media posts from LeBron James, who is known to do this during trade season. The Lakers really want to turn things around and will be relying on the trade deadline as a means of improving their roster.
The Lakers must make the right moves at the trade deadline.
Let's take a look at several of their rumored trade targets, while grading whether they should or shouldn't make the move.
Please reconsider: Spencer Dinwiddie
If you're like me, you may have been a bit perplexed upon hearing about the Lakers' interest in Spencer Dinwiddie. Simply put, Dinwiddie's best days are behind him.
Sure, he's averaging 12.7 points, but he's very inefficient, as his 48.3 percent effective field goal splits aren't....quite....good. Dinwiddie is shooting just 32.5 percent from long-range, which is below league average.
He also doesn't add much on the defensive end. In other words, D'Angelo Russell is significantly a better option.
