Round 2, Realistic Pick: Isaiah Crawford, G/F, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

The Los Angeles Lakers must not make the mistake of viewing a late second-round selection as a pick that can be wasted. Trayce Jackson-Davis, for instance, was selected at No. 57 overall in 2023 and made an immediate impact for the Golden State Warriors.

At No. 55 overall, the Lakers could find a similarly valuable fit in Louisiana Tech Bulldogs standout Isaiah Crawford—one of the most intriguing defenders in this class.

Crawford finished his senior season at Louisiana Tech with averages of 16.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 three-point field goals made per game. He shot 41.4 percent from beyond the arc, marking his third consecutive full season above 38.1 percent from distance.

Crawford projects to be an off-ball player on the offensive end of the floor, but with a massive seven-foot wingspan and a consistent jumper, the fit is clear.

Los Angeles would likely prefer to land a player who can create a bit more on the offensive end of the floor. There's a lot to work with here, though, including defensive instincts and intensity that are tough to teach.

Perhaps there's risk in assuming a player can develop a tighter handle, but at No. 55, swinging for the fences on a realistic target isn't a bad idea.
