Equal in appeal to three-point shooting is the simple fact that Klay Thompson is a proven winner. That holds weight in any scenario, but it's especially valuable when one considers how much pressure any incoming free agent will face when joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

If the 17-time NBA champion Lakers are looking for a free agent acquisition who knows what it takes to win at the highest level, then Thompson is as good as it gets this summer.

Thompson is a four-time NBA champion who has played a co-starring role on each of those teams. His presence as the premier 3-and-D player in the Association was vital to what Steve Kerr has built, as it's alleviated pressure from Stephen Curry defensively while adding lightning in a bottle on offense.

Thompson has earned the nickname, "Game 6 Klay," for his uncanny ability to consistently take over on one of the biggest stages of a postseason series.

In Los Angeles, Thompson's offensive role would be similar to what he was asked to do during two of the Warriors' championship seasons. Much like he was with Curry and Kevin Durant, Thompson would likely be the third scoring option behind Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

A proven commodity in that very role who ranks among the best off-ball scorers in NBA history, Thompson has a proven track record of sacrificing numbers for winning.

The Lakers need more players who epitomize that thought process.
