12. Markieff Morris
Morris joined the Lakers just before the shutdown in 2020. He agreed to a buyout with the Pistons and was eager to chase a championship. The 6’9 forward had to wait a bit longer than expected, but Morris played a key role in LA’s championship. He appeared in all 21 playoff games and was a key floor spacer who added toughness. Morris won his first championship and decided to re-sign with the Lakers in the offseason.
His second season in Tinseltown did not go as well. He averaged 6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 19.7 minutes, but the 6’9 forward struggled with his efficiency. Morris shot 40.5 percent from the field and just 31.1 percent on his 3-point tries. The Lakers were bounced in the first round of the playoffs, and Morris left for Miami in free agency.
The veteran won a championship in LA, but it did not stop him from taking a few shots at LeBron after joining the Heat.
The 34-year-old has barely seen the court since his time with the Lakers but will be searching for a minimum contract in free agency. He finished the last two years with the Mavericks and has a close relationship with Kyrie Irving. Do not be surprised to see him stay in Dallas, but a reunion with LeBron cannot be ruled out completely.
