Dog Bites Man; Lakers Beat Nets

Things aren’t going well for the Lakers but it’s not so bad that they’d lose to New Jersey. The Lake Show still can’t get over 100 points but 99 were enough to beat the Nets. Another sloppy performance left this one late until a 10-2 run closed the contest.

Yawn…

Maybe we can just blame this one on the early start time. Whatever the newest excuse, the Lakers still aren’t playing with any intensity. They’re honestly playing like a team with two rings in the rearview and an eye looking down the road instead of what’s right in front of them.

So be it. This is what we’ve seen happen more often than not with a Phil Jackson coached team. They seem to check in and out with each banner hung.

Luckily the Lakers held on to this one otherwise we’d be pushing the panic button like a crosswalk button.

The good news is this was a somewhat better defensive effort. Hard to tell against one of the worst offensive teams in the league.

The bad news is that Pau Gasol can’t find his rhythm so Kobe continues to carry the load. Gasol’s lost production and the Reneges reverting to the Bench Mob equals a once explosion offense stagnant.

The important thing is the win. Now the Lake Show can take in some praise from the President. It helped to inspire them last year so hopefully the same will happen again.
