The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a deep playoff run that saw the team make it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. With Rob Pelinka and the front office bringing back last year’s core, there are high expectations for this year’s team.

Thus, unlike last season, the 2023-24 schedule release is actually an anticipated moment in time for Lakers fans. Instead of trying to figure out how many games the Lakers will lose, fans can piece together how many wins the team will finish with and whether or not that will be enough to top the Western Conference.

The Lakers have to play all 29 other teams anyway but the construction of the schedule certainly does matter. Here is everything you need to know about the team’s 2023-24 schedule.

The gap between December 2 and December 12 is to make space for the knockout rounds of the In-Season Tournament. The gap between February 14 and 22 is for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

Los Angeles Lakers NBA In-Season Tournament schedule:

For the first time in league history, there will be an in-season tournament similar to that of different cups in various soccer leagues throughout the world. However, unlike competitions like the FA Cup, the NBA In-Season Tournament will count toward a team’s regular-season record.

The tournament starts with group play before entering the knockout round. Everything except the championship game of the tournament will count toward the teams’ regular-season record. Here are the scheduled tournament games for the Lakers:

  • November 10, 2023: at Phoenix Suns
  • November 14, 2023: vs Memphis Grizzlies
  • November 17, 2023: at Portland Trail Blazers
  • November 21, 2023: vs Utah Jazz

It is not going to be easy for the purple and gold to get out of the group stage. Los Angeles will be playing two potential playoff opponents in the Suns and Grizzlies. This will be a great test to see where the Lakers are at compared to their peers.

Lakers preseason schedule:

Before kicking off the 2023-24 season against the Denver Nuggets, the Lake Show will get several tune-ups in the preseason. All in all, there are six preseason games that the purple and gold will play before the outcomes really start to matter.

  • October 7: at Golden State Warriors
  • October 9: vs Brooklyn Nets (Las Vegas)
  • October 11: vs Sacramento Kings (Anaheim)
  • October 13: vs Golden State Warriors
  • October 15: vs Milwaukee Bucks
  • October 17: vs Phoenix Suns (Palm Springs)

Any game that does not have the location specified is played at the home arena of the home team.
