Pau Gasol Suffers “Minor Injury” to Ankle in Europe

Pau Gasol is trying to rediscover his game. You know those sick skills of his that did a LeBron James-esque Houdini in the playoffs? Yeah those skills! The ones that had fools like me calling for Gasol to get some MVP love.

In order to get his game back on track Pau has taken to playing for his country in the EuroBasket championships. Until yesterday things had been going pretty well for Pau.

The Spanish national squad is favored to emerge as Europe’s top team and had been playing much like Pau’s professional team – up and down. During the demolition of hosts Lithuania Gasol suffered an ankle injury.

Reportedly the injury is minor but it was concerning enough that Gasol sat out of today’s loss to Turkey.

While the Turkish team boasts of some serious talent it is very telling of how well Pau has been playing that without his services the Spanish squad sank.

Gasol Tweeted that he’ll be good to go on Wednesday. Good news for his teammates and better news for the Lakers who must be concerned about the possibility of Gasol coming back damaged from his European Vacation.

But that is a proposition that is well worth the risk from where I sit. Whatever it takes to get Gasol back into MVP form is just fine by me.
