Tonight could be the last time we witness the Dwight Howard-less Lake Show. The Lakers are in Vegas preparing for their 5th preseason contest as the Sacramento Kings get their chance to add to L.A.’s preseason misery.

But as we all know preseason outcomes mean less than wedding vows did to Elizabeth Taylor. So while we want to see the Lakers get a leg up on their NorCal rivals we’re all setting our sights to Sunday for the second installment of this series.

If all goes according to plan then the first ever DH12 sighting in purple and gold will occur when the Lakers and Kings play their rematch for the weekend series. This report comes courtesy of Marc Spears of at Yahoo! and would seem to indicate that Howard’s already quickly progressing rehab is much further along than anticipated.

Initially it was assumed Howard would miss the entire preseason. Then he was given the full clearance to participate in practice and many figured he would play in the preseason finale making himself ready for the start of the regular season.

But to hear word of Howard possibly playing this weekend is truly amazing. For someone as skeptical of this move as I was it is nothing short of inspiring to know Howard has come this far this fast. Just what kind of game shape he’s in remains to be seen. But just seeing Howard on the court will be more than enough for those of us eager to see what this team will truly look like this season.
