Lakers Rumors: Lakers leaning toward firing D’Antoni

The back and forth of whether the Lakers will keep head coach Mike D’Antoni at season’s end swings from one extreme to the next on a seemingly daily basis. Today, the Lakers are leaning toward firing their head man at season’s end.

D’Antoni has done little to impress the Lakers brass this year with a number of historic beatdowns. As is, the Lakers would have to finish the season undefeated to simply tie for the worst record since the Lakers moved to Los Angeles.

D’Antoni is currently under contract through next season, but that could change this summer. With the chance to rebuild the identity of the franchise, D’Antoni’s days are likely numbered.

It seems like the front office floated the idea of keeping D’Antoni last week and the fanbase flipped out.
While I would be happy to see D’antoni go, Jimmy is 0-2 in his head coaching selections.

The trouble is, bluntly, JB just isn’t a world class BB executive. I don’t care if he is part owner of the Lakers. Right now is when Jeanie Buss needs to strap ‘em on and insist on approving the next coaching selection. Otherwise, the next coach also will be limited by Jim Buss’ ego. I’d try Jerry Sloan.
