Trading Lottery Draft Pick, Possible

Trading the lottery pick only makes sense if a franchise player is available. Of course, the possibility can’t be explored until May 20th, when the lottery balls are being flung around.
Only then, we’ll know where the Lakers pick.
Trading the pick for a quality veteran player allows the Lakers to accelerate the rebuilding process for the next year or two, and then completely blow things up altogether. Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash would finally be off the books. The Lakers can start all over from ground zero in terms of a franchise player, drafted players, and free agency.
Still, it would be nice to see a homegrown Laker player from the draft until retirement.
We hope that doesn’t go away with Kobe Bryant as well.
At least, the Lakers are exploring all options.
