He’s a steal

Whilst it may not have been a total shock to see Randle fall into the Lakers’ lap last night, such a situation would have almost been unfeasible just six months ago. Early mock drafts predicted the forward to land at least within top five range and, if not there, no lower than six. His stellar year in Kentucky, where he averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, had plenty calling for him to even be lifted into the vicinity of the fourth pick. However as front office infatuations grew with other prospects, Randle became the forgotten man.

To say that we’re lucky to pick him up this low would be an understatement. His form has been assuredly consistent throughout the year and his physical measures and skill set means that he will be able to contribute to the Lakers almost immediately upon arrival. As nobody else wished to take him up, I for one am delighted that Mitch and Co. were the ones to offer him a hand.
