Lakers Rumors: Lakers will meet with Carmelo Anthony

After initial reports suggested otherwise, it appears that the Lakers will indeed get a face-to-face meeting with free agent Carmelo Anthony this week. From Marc Stein of ESPN:

Sources told ESPN.com that Anthony is in the process of arranging a trip to Chicago to meet with the Bulls, then intends to travel to Texas for Wednesday meetings with both the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks.

Sources say Anthony is likely to visit the Rockets first on Wednesday, followed by the Mavericks in the afternoon.

Anthony, who maintains an offseason home in Los Angeles, is also expected to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers face-to-face next week.

The Lakers and Anthony have long been rumored as partners, mainly centered around Kobe Bryant and Melo’s friendship. On top of that, the Lakers still hold out the pipe dream of pairing Anthony and superstar LeBron James this summer with Bryant, forming their own Big 3. However unlikely it may be, the Lakers still have plan B’s and C’s, but getting Melo would certainly be a great coup.

With a depleted roster, the Lakers are in dire need of star power to go with the aging Bryant. Whether it be this summer with James, Anthony, or even Chris Bosh or next summer with the likes of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, or Rajon Rondo, the Lakers are looking for someone to pass the torch to.

IMO Melo is the perfect fit. When you consider the fact that La-La is enjoying success on the big screen, what better place for her TV marketability than LA? It just works!

In Houston Dwigh will complain about his touches as he did in L.A. He’ll be the third option again. In Chicago u can’t depend on Derrick rose knees to take u to a championship . Derrick Rose will NEVER be the same. &Noah just had surgery I think but then again he’s the most consistent. Then the Bulls also will have to find a way to dump Boozers contract or Taj Gibson & mike dunleavy. That’s basically half of your defense u have to sacrifice just for a offensive weapon in Melo. So bring no in & u never know if he reinjures his shoulder again then Melo will be back in square one like he was in NY. Now Dallas is close to be contenders, but Tyson also is coming off of an injury& u never know if he’ll be the same Defensive player as before. With Dirk, he easily puts up 18&6, &u also have Ellis who can help shoulder the loud. But Dallas also cant offer the Max to Melo. Now if Melo was to go to Dallas, they wouldn’t be much of a defensive team because of

Kobe knows Mello can score especially in the 4th quarter. Two beasts to have in clutch time in a city that breathes Lakers and a place where Mello and his family live. Kobes “lil brother” will be added to the team. Everything else is just hype. Remember Mitch Kupchac said he would do whatevet it takes. This is the best organization in basketball history if not all of sports. DONT GET IT TWISTED!!!
