Lakers claim amnestied Carlos Boozer off waivers

In a move that shocked nearly every NBA fan, the Lakers have reportedly won the bid for recently amnestied Carlos Boozer, making him a Los Angeles Laker.

The process following Boozer being amnestied included teams around the league submitting blind bids for Boozer. The only teams eligible were teams under the salary cap. At the time of publish, the winning bid is unknown. Whatever the amount the Lakers bid on Boozer will be the amount they will pay him this year.

Boozer had one of the worst statistical seasons last year of his career, averaging 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds. Boozer certainly is a solid player and will make the Lakers more competitive. However, for fans that were aboard the tanking train again, he severely hampers their hopes.

With the acquisition of Jeremy Lin and the resigning of Nick Young and Jordan Hill, the Lakers will be much more competitive than last season. However, some fans had hoped that the Lakers would try to tank and retain their draft pick next season, which was top 5 protected.

Let us know down below what you think of the acquisition of Carlos Boozer. Is it good for the Lakers? What will it do for Julius Randle’s minutes?
