The NBA tries different things with NBA uniforms. Spanish themes have been tried. Having sleeves on the uniforms has been tried. Now, there’s a change that’s subtle, but makes a great deal of sense.
Here's what the Lakers (16x) and Celtics (17x) gold championship patches will look like on the jerseys. pic.twitter.com/AcMqaF7Ui3

A championship patch is going to be added to the back of the uniforms, just below the neck of the player. Having a uniform that stands for more than just the team, but also their accomplishments, can add that much more pride for a player and the organization.
The patch is a constant reminder of what the organization is chasing after.
The Lakers may be down one championship from the Boston Celtics, but you can bet the Lakers want to beat them to the next one. The rivalry has lasted over fifty years. The players’ names may change, but the teams are still the same, looking for the same glory all over again.
This is a change worth keeping.
