While most of the attention will be on the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, the Lakers will be counting down the days until the NBA Draft. A few days later free agency will begin and the Lakers will have a better picture of what team they will be putting on the floor next season.

First the Lakers will hold workouts for all the NBA Draft prospects and once July comes around they will bring in all the veterans looking to land a deal with the Lakers.

The Lakers also have to consider all the players that were on the roster last season. Wayne Ellington could be a player the Lakers could bring back, especially at the right price. Ellington finished the season with a shoulder injury, but according to Mark Medina of the LA Daily News, Ellington’s shoulder has healed:

It was a difficult year for Ellington. He lost his father during the regular season and that was a huge blow for him. Ellington actually performed well for the Lakers, he averaged 10 points and 3.2 in 65 games played during the regular season.

After bouncing around the NBA the last several years, Ellington is looking for a place to call home. The Lakers are brining in a lot of new faces for next year, but Ellington is somebody they should consider. If he can build on last year’s performance, Ellington could be a valuable asset off the bench.
