Mitch Kupchak just can’t move Sasha Vujacic fast enough. Just one day after the rumors of GM Mitch looking to move The Machine in order to clear room for re-signing Shannon Brown comes word of the New York Knicks making an offer to ShanWow.
Brown could be enticed by the lure of more playing time and possibly even starting for the Knicks. Kupchak gave a timeline of 7-10 days for getting Shannon under contract. With the Knicks involved that time frame could be truncated significantly.
The Lakers have shown Shannon nothing but love since he’s arrived in Los Angeles. After working his way into Phil Jackson’s rotation, the Lake Show showed Shannon the money in the form of a two year deal with a player option. Brown opted out of a $2-million payday with hopes of getting a raise.
One thing is for sure, no matter where Shannon ends up he’ll be making more coin than he ever has. The difference will be whether or not he’s willing to be patient as Mitch searches for suckers suitors willing to take on Sasha’s $5-million contract.
While the Knicks can offer more money and a lot more PT, they certainly can’t offer Shannon the chance at another ring.
The ball is back in your court, Kupchak. Don’t Vujacic-up this one.
