Trevor Ariza will always have a special place in the hearts of Laker fans. The L.A. native was a fan favorite during the Lakers title run in 2009 thanks to his clutch shooting and his highlight dunk reel. Too bad for Trevor that he received some terrible advice from his agent last offseason as he is now on his third team in two years.
When Trevor opted to pursue a long term deal with the Houston Rockets, you knew exactly how his career was going to go. Much like many athletic swingmen in the NBA, Trevor is quickly becoming trade bait (Quentin Richardson anyone).
Today – just one year after signing a 5-year contract – Ariza was traded to the New Orleans Hornets in what is sure to be one of many more stops to come in his career. I wish Trevor nothing but the best and truly hope he blossoms into an All-Star caliber player. However, it is hard to ignore the fact that he and his agent turned down the Lakers only to sign the exact same deal with Houston.
No doubt the combo of CP3 and T-Reez will be enjoyable to watch. Too bad it’s not going to equate to hanging banners in the rafters though.
