Kobe Bryant Gym Coming Soon to Lower Merion
Kobe Bryant put Lower Merion High School on the map. The hoops world is all too familiar with Bryant’s alma mater as it produced perhaps the greatest to ever play the game. On December 16th Bryant’s legacy will be forever honored at Lower Merion as the school will be naming its new gym after their most famous alum.
Yet another magical moment for Mamba who has been very involved with his former school over the years including making the occasional call to give the hoops squad a little pep talk.
In addition, all the proceeds from the unveiling ceremony will go to the Education Foundation of Lower Merion. All in all it just might be most flattering honor bestowed on KB24 to date. It is one thing when strangers recognize you for your accomplishments, quite another when it’s the community that saw you grow up over the years.
Hoops prodigies have long held a special place in the collective conscious of the public. To this day, most know New York’s Power Memorial High as the original home of then Lew Alcindor. Just as Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary’s is a household name due to famous alum LeBron James. You can consider Lower Merion High to be in the same iconic standing thanks to Kobe.
