Maybe Mike Brown is looking for anyway to be close to his best player. When the Lakers hired Brown to replace the God of hoops coaching, Phil Jackson, it was widely speculated Kobe Bryant was unhappy with the move. Bryant’s long silence on the matter only worsened the speculation.
Then we learn that Kobe and Coach Brown had already done the gentlemanly thing of meeting face to face. Turns out Bryant’s beef is with Jim Buss. But that is a topic we’ll revisit…often…in the coming months.
Yesterday it was reported that Coach Brown has found a home in Anaheim Hills. While Brown cites a school he’s chosen for his children as the reason to be in the O.C. it could be that he’s looking to stay close to another Orange County resident – one Mr. Bryant.
Whatever the case we know Brown’s choice of home has nothing to do with convince. After a couple of those nasty commutes on the 5 from his home to El Segundo or downtown Brown will understand that his family’s happiness comes at a cost.
The L.A. Times reports Brown’s home was listed for as much as $4.5-million as of 2008. Safe to say Brown has done well for himself to be able to afford such a residence. Not exactly Phil Jackson status as far as salary goes but that’s not the only area Brown will find himself in PJ’s shadow for.
