Steve Blake Suffers Foot Injury Via Spike Strip

Apr 20, 2012; San Antonio, TX, USA; Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Blake (5) drives against the San Antonio Spurs during the second half at the AT

For Steve Blake the beginning of the end might just have been the day he inked his four-year contract with the Lakers. Since putting on Purple and Gold it’s been nothing but inconsistency and disappointment. But that’s just one man’s opinion.

Now something that could very well spell the beginning of the end of Blake’s Laker days occurred over the weekend when the backup point guard went barefoot to the beach. Apparently Blake was walking through a beach parking lot when he inadvertently stepped on a spike strip and punctured his foot.

The L.A. Times reports that he’ll be held out of any impact exercises for the next three weeks.

The Lake Show opens camp next week and recently acquired Chris Duhon will be getting the early minutes behind Steve Nash so you do the math. If Duhon plays well enough while Blake is working his way back into the rotation then before you know it Stevie Ballgame could be sitting Kapono at the end of the bench.

Not saying I want to see Blake banished as I was a fan of his signing. However like most Lakers faithful I’ve cooled on Blake like a slab of meat in a walk-in freezer.
