As the Lakers prepare to open camp they continue to add more bodies to the camp roster. Today former New Jersey Net Chris Douglas-Roberts was inked to a camp contract.
One upon a time the man known as CDR was looked at as a promising prospect. After leaving the University of Memphis prior to his senior season, the former All-American found life difficult in the NBA. A second round pick of the Nets in ’08, CDR played two seasons in New Jeruz starting over half of the games he appeared in during his second season.
But that would be the height of the Detroit native’s NBA career thus far. After one season in Milwaukee Douglas-Roberts was out of the NBA signing on to play in Italy during the lockout shortened 2011-12 season.
So now he’s back in the States and is a longshot at best to make the Lakers roster. No doubt the Lake Show could use an athletic wing like CDR but even if he makes the squad PT will be very limited.
