Mitch Kupchak is considering applying for a disabled player exception in lieu of Jordan Hill’s season ending hip surgery. The Lakers have until tomorrow, January 15th, to apply for the exception which could grant the struggling team $1.78-million in spending cash to acquire another player.

According to the L.A. Times the player in question must be sidelined until June 15th. While Hill is seeking a second opinion he’s already resigned to the fact that his season is over. So unless another doctor contradicts Hill’s original diagnosis then it would seem the Lakers are in line for a little help.

Of course the real issue could be whether or not the Lakers would even consider adding another salary to an already ridiculous payroll.
