Just when you thought the Lakers might be able to put all the drama of the Grammy road trip behind them along come some more potentially distressing news.
The L.A. Times reports that Earl Clark will undergo an MRI on his sore right foot today with an update on his status due later. Hopefully this is nothing but a formality. Should Clark become yet another name on the Lakers’ injury report it would certainly be yet another setback to a team trying to get on track.
Clark has been one of the few pleasant surprises for the Lake Show this season. After arriving as a throw in as part of the Dwight Howard deal Clark has emerged as a valued contributor averaging 11 points and 8 boards as a starter. His production has been good enough for Mike D’Antoni to move Pau Gasol to the bench before the Spaniard’s devastating foot in Brooklyn put him on the shelf indefinitely.
Tonight the Lakers welcome the Phoenix Suns to Staples for a rematch of their duel in the desert that kicked off the Grammy road swing.
