Kobe Bryant carries Lakers past Trail Blazers, one step closer to playoffs

In spectacular hero ball fashion, Kobe Bryant lead his team to a victory over the Hornets Tuesday night. So – being mamba and all – it was only Natural that Bryant would erupt for a season-high 47 points in a critical win over Portland.

Not only did Bryant play the full 48 minutes, but his performance is now the all-time record for an opponent in the Rose Garden – besting the 44 point mark set by Lebron James in 2011.

With three games standing between Bryant and the postseason, he’s made it abundantly clear he’ll do everything in his power to keep the Lakers playoff hopes out of Utah’s hands.

"“This isn’t breathing room at all,” Bryant said. “I’m still on edge. I remember very well what Golden State did to us up there and also they let us down against Utah the other night, so I’m looking forward to getting some revenge” Friday when the Warriors come to Staples Center."
