According to Paul Franklin of The Times of Trenton, sources close to the ongoing negotiations between Lakers’ assistant coach Eddie Jordan and Rutgers University say a deal is nearly complete and they should officially announce him as their head coach with in the next 48 hours.

“I believe it makes complete sense for me to be the next Rutgers coach,” said Jordan. And it certainly does, as Jordan is a Rutgers alumnus and has been interested in the head coaching position for several years now. His son also recently graduated from the university in 2003 and participated in the school’s football program.

Jordan still remains Rutgers’ all-time assist and steals leader from his time with the Scarlet Knights and his presence will be a welcome addition following the heavily publicized dismissal of Mike Rice.
