Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard’s relationship has been questioned since day one. While both Howard and Bryant have publicly said the right things, behind the scenes is a different story.
However, come Tuesday when Dwight Howard meets with the Lakers about resigning, Bryant will be with the Lakers contingent, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Lakers group is reported to consist of Bryant, the Buss family, GM Mitch Kupchak, and possibly Mike D’Antoni. Bryant has stated his support and desire to bring back Howard, saying in a radio interview “It’s not like you have guys like Dwight Howard just walking around every day.”
Bryant and the Lakers are reportedly going to be the last team to meet with Howard as he has interviews with Golden State, Dallas, and Houston set up also. The Lakers have recently unveiled their #StayD12 campaign, which included billboards around Los Angeles with the slogan #StayD12 as well as a full-page ad in the LA Times on Sunday.
Howard has reportedly said that he plans on signing a deal on July 10, the first day possible. Until then, Lakers fans will likely be holding their breaths, wondering where the big man will go.
