For most of free agency, it’s been the Lakers showing interest in a free agent and not much reciprocation in return. To say the Lakers have cast a wide net would be a vast understatement.
However, on Mason and Ireland on Wednesday, free agent Corey Maggette changed the tide a bit.
"If you talk about the Lakers…that would definitely be a huge plus, man. You can’t beat playing for one of the greatest organizations in basketball, having an opportunity to play with Kobe and the guys that they have on there.Of course I’d do it for the minimum. If you have an opportunity to play with that team? Definitely."
Maggette is known as a scorer, something the Lakers could use off the bench. However, he was injured last season and only played 18 games. He hasn’t played more than 70 games since 2006-07. Nonetheless, the Lakers are running out of options and Maggette fills a big need at SF, especially if the Lakers do decide to amnesty Metta World Peace.
