Metta World Peace was amnestied by the Lakers late last week, making himself available to be claimed via the waiver wire. However, after he cleared that unclaimed, Metta became a free agent. Many thought the Knicks and Metta shared mutual interest, followed by the Clippers and possibly even China. Those rumors were confirmed Monday afternoon when Metta agreed to a two-year deal with the Knicks.

MWP was a childhood Knicks fans and has maintained he’s a fan of the team throughout his career, often appearing in Knicks apparel. Most recently, he posted a picture on Instagram in a Lakers shirt and Knicks hat.

For MWP, this is a match made in heaven, as he goes home and gets to play in the bright lights while also being in an environment where he can excel.
