Now that Dwight Howard has left the Lakers in the dust, it is time for The Lake Show to move on. This all comes for the Lakers front-office.
It has been known that the Lakers are going to try to make a big splash next season in free agency, but signing both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony might be something even the Lakers can’t pull off. There have already been rumors about Kobe being in talks with Carmelo with regards to him joining Kobe in Los Angeles.
It’s known that the Lakers will have plenty of cap space next season — Steve Nash and Robert Sacre are the only players on the books after this season. This means the Lakers will be able to sign two players to maximum contracts next summer, which could either mean they land two top free agents, or they don’t end up with anyone and have to fill out their roster, a la the Dallas Mavericks the last two seasons.
