A long, long wait through the summer for meaningful basketball games finally climaxed this weekend with a back-to-back by the Lakers to start the preseason. Despite not being at full strength either game, we learned a lot about the Lakers from this weekend. With a win Saturday against the Warriors, we were met with a new, young, and possible future star as he had a career night. We saw what youthful energy the Lakers possess this season, a huge change of pace from last year.
The following night against the Nuggets, the Lakers showcased what their offense could look like next year as we saw Pau Gasol in the high post and featured in the pick and roll game with Steve Nash. The glimpses of what could be (Nash’s slick behind the back pass to Steve Blake) have Lakers fans salivating at the mouth. But what all did we learn from this weekend of games?
