LAKERS NEWS

The Lakers had a bit of a scare this weekend when Wes Johnson went down with an injury in the second game of the preseason. After being ravaged with injuries last year, this is the last thing Lakers fans want to hear. However, it appears as though Johnson isn’t seriously injured.

In more encouraging news, Bryant is due back to Los Angeles today, just under a week after he left the country en route to Germany. Bryant underwent the orthokine procedure that revitalized his career just a few years ago, this time on the same knee on what was being called a routine procedure.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

Preseason action is now in full swing as 16 teams played last night, some in their first action of the preseason. Anthony Davis led all scorers last night with 25 points as the Pelicans squeaked by the Mavs 94-92. Steph Curry had 23 points in his team’s victorious effort over the Kings, and Chris Bosh’s 21 points helped lead the Heat over the Hawks.

Also, in bizarro world news, Chris Kaman, Robert Sacre, and Lakers strength and training coach Tim DiFrancesco went in together and bought a cow. Yes, a cow. The trio wanted to buy meat in bulk and decided to simply buy the cow themselves and use every piece of meat possible.

DID YOU KNOW

Xavier Henry’s 29-point performance was not only his career high (albeit a preseason game), but the first time he eclipsed the 20-point mark in his young career.

MAMBA TWEET OF THE DAY

With the Black Mamba on a bit of Twitter hiatus as he receives medical work in Germany, we’ll bring you a couple of tweets as numerous Lakers attended the Dodgers game last night, which they won and advanced to the Nation League Championship Series.
