According to reports from all across the web, the NBA Board of Governors unanimously voted to change the NBA Finals format. The Finals used to be 2-3-2, but it is now 2-2-1-1-1. Along with the format change, there will also be another day in between Game 6 and Game 7 because of the added travel.
David Stern was quoted saying, “In a 2-2 series, it’s sort of not fair to the team with the better record to be away. It’s difficult for the better team, in terms of record, to spend as many as eight games on the road.” Stern also said this change was an “easy sell.”
What do YOU think of the change? Was it a smart idea, or should they have kept the same format? Let us know in the comment section down below!
