Former Laker guard Shannon Brown could be making his way back to the purple and gold after being traded and subsequently released Saturday. Brown was involved in the trade that sent Marcin Gortat from the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards, but will be waived by the Wizards. Now there are some that the Lakers have interest in the athletic wingman.
The problem is the Lakers lack of need for a shooting guard. As is, the Lakers have Kobe Bryant, Jodie Meeks, Nick Young, Xavier Henry, and Steve Blake who all could play the two-guard spot. On top of that, they’d have to cut a player in order to sign Brown, with Elias Harris and Ryan Kelly the most likely victims.
Still, Brown is relatively young and excelled in his role off the bench during the Lakers championship runs. His up-and-down play style would fit great into Mike D’Antoni’s system. Stay tuned to Lake Show Life for any possible updates on the situation.
