24 hours after news broke via Twitter about a trade between the Lakers and Cavs (which was later discounted as false), here we stand with Pau Gasol still a Laker and Andrew Bynum still a Cavalier. That isn’t to say the last 24 hours haven’t been drama filled.
The Lakers and Cavs have remained in talks, with the Lakers insistent on obtaining a young asset in addition to Bynum, and the Cavs insisting on not giving one up. Specifically, the inclusion of Dion Waiters has come into question.
Lakers position hasn't changed, they want asset + salary savings to trade Gasol. Dion Waiters has not been seriously discussed, sources said

Even more, the Lakers have tried anything to get another player with Bynum.
#Lakers asked for 1st-rd pick, sources say. #Cavs said no. LA offered to swap firsts, Cavs said no. LA also asked about Varejao, still no.

As of now, the Lakers and Cavs sit in a deadlock, with neither side willing to budge.
As reported earlier, Lakers asked about Waiters, Cavs won't do it. If it was as simple as $ relief & asset, sources say deal would be done.

While no one is saying this but me, there's chance #Lakers keep Gasol and #Cavs keep Bynum, and we're doing all this again in February.

With less than 24 hours remaining before Bynum’s deal becomes guaranteed, the deadline is quickly approaching for a deal to get done.
