Last season, Marcus Smart, considered the likely #1 overall pick, returned to school and watched his draft stock this year plummet. This year, Andrew Wiggins won’t be making the same mistake. Wiggins is expected to declare for the NBA Draft, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.
Wiggins spent one season at Kansas where, despite lofty expectations, wowed fans and scouts alike with his play. While he went out on a sour note in the NCAA Tournament, NBA teams saw everything they needed to see and Wiggins is a possible candidate for the #1 pick.
Wiggins joins Noah Vonleh, Tyler Ennis, and Joel Embiid among the high-profile prospects who have declared for the draft. The likes of Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, and Marcus Smart still have yet to make their decision, but are expected to join suit, making this one of the deepest drafts since 2003, when LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade all were selected.
What do you think, Lakers fans, is Andrew Wiggins worth the #1 pick?
