7. Jordan Farmar will be back
6. Kendall Marshall will be back
These were two of the brighter spots this year, and this two, to me, seemed most likely to return. Of all the players on the roster, Kupchak specifically referenced Marshall when asked about the team possibly needing to sign a starting caliber point guard. Kupchak was clearly high on Marshall, and there’s reason to be. While there’s certainly work to be done both offensively and defensively for Marshall, a player his age (23) with his skill set, most notably his vision, is an asset and considering the value the Lakers can keep him at, it seems like he’s a sure thing to stay.
As for Farmar, he made a move that I was a huge fan of by wearing his two championship rings to his exit interview with Kupchak and Mike D’Antoni, reminding them of his value to them in the past. Such a shrewd move by Farmar won’t go unnoticed. But his on-court play, when healthy, warranted resigning. He’s a fan favorite, wants to be in LA, and could be the starting point guard on a championship team.
