Noah Vonleh, Marcus Smart set to work out for Lakers
By Jacob Rude
The Lakers are set to bring in both Noah Vonleh and Marcus Smart for a workout early next month, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.
Both Vonleh and Smart are likely draft picks for the Lakers, with each some of the most often-mocked to the Lakers are drafts across the internet.
Vonleh is a forward/center who played for Indiana University last season, his only year of college ball. He measured off the charts at the draft combine and is seen as a project player. Our own Mike Garcia took a recent look at Vonleh as a possible pick for the Lakers at #7.
Smart is another intriguing prospect, but in a different light. After last season, Smart was thought to be the #1 prospect in college and a sure-thing to declare for the draft. However, he returned to Oklahoma State for his sophomore year and his stock took a hit for a variety of reasons. While still a likely top 10 pick, Smart is no longer in the running for the #1 pick thanks to a better draft class and a draft stock that fell.
Just today, we published a draft profile on Smart, who would be an instant impact player for the Lakers at the point guard position.
