How does Rodney Hood fit the team?

Mar 21, 2014; Raleigh, NC, USA; Duke Blue Devils forward Rodney Hood (5) passes the ball against Mercer Bears forward Daniel Coursey (52) in the first half of a men

The Lakers need help everywhere, but in terms of offensive punch with jumpshooting, Rodney Hood fits the bill. He would be expected to fulfill a role to provide spacing in the half-court set, as well as slowly progress into a 3rd option on offense.  With Gasol and Bryant onboard, Hood at the opposite wing can not only keep the spacing alive, but be a dynamic playmaker.  His jumpshot, ability to attack the rim, and unselfishness can help any team in the halfcourt set, but especially a team loaded with great post-up players.

Defensively, he will struggle at first, but his quickness and 6’7.75″ height allows him to rotate between both shooting guard and small forward positions.  Both he and Bryant will have to tag team chasing opposing shooters and slashers, but at least the Lakers have another option defensively outside of Bryant.
