5 Trades The Lakers Should Consider Before Draft Day
By Jacob Rude
5. Bulls trade #16, #19, Carlos Boozer for #7 pick and Steve Nash
A variation of these trades have been proposed. First, the idea of a Boozer-Nash swap makes sense for both sides for various reasons. The Lakers could pay Boozer this year then free up cap space for 2015, while the Bulls cut their pay roll for their run at Melo. Even more, they could bring a big-name prospect with the #7 pick or use it for a trade asset themselves to try to bring in another weapon, a la Aaron Afflalo.
The Lakers also get two picks similar to the Phoenix deal. With two mid-first round picks, they can bring in two players, allow them to mature for a year, then either use them as trade assets next summer or use them to lure in a big-name free agent like Kevin Love or Rajon Rondo.
