Sources: Melo set to return to Knicks, believes in Phil

After three days of silence from Carmelo Anthony and his camp, fans were desperate for at least a rumor, something to grasp Melo’s current state of mind. According to the New York Daily News, Anthony has decided to put his faith in Phil Jackson and return to the Knicks.
"A person close to Anthony told The News on Wednesday that barring a last minute change of heart Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks after “agonizing over this” for the past week.“He will have something for everybody on Thursday,” said the friend who was with Anthony before Anthony’s scheduled workout with Kevin Durant and Kevin Love in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “He is really torn because this is the biggest decision of his career. But he wants to get it done in New York. He told me he believes in Phil.”"
Unlike the last Laker to be offered a max contract, Anthony will not turn down roughly $30 million, returning to New York for the extra year and the extra money.
After Anthony, the Lakers still sport a host of cap room and, given how free agency has played out, still many viable targets. While none of them are quite the star level of Anthony, many fans feel building a team of budding stars.
