Laker News: Lakers Acquire Jeremy Lin and 2015 1st Rounder

The Lakers acquired Jeremy Lin from the Houston Rockets.  Included with the deal is a 1st round pick in 2015.  In return, the Lakers send cash and rights to an overseas player.

While this hasn’t been a dream off-season, it’s clear that the Lakers are moving forward with a real Plan A, the 2015 offseason.  They scrapped most of the caproom of 2014, and will now have Lin’s contract of $14 million come off the books in 2015.

Players such as Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green, Al Jefferson, Anderson Varejao, Tyson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, Gerald Green, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Tony Parker will be unrestricted free agents.  A few players have the option to opt out of their contract in 2015 as well.

The Lakers now have a starting backcourt with Jeremy Lin and Kobe Bryant.  Now, the rest of the roster needs to be filled.
