Swaggy-P wanted to come back. He’s back as a Laker.
Nick Young excelled as a 6th man for the Laker team. He became the leading scorer for the Lakers. While he struggled as a starter, he found a way to fit in with the current team and represented the Lakers well. Not only is Nick Young back as a Laker, he comes in with a great contract. At roughly $5 million a year, not only is it a great deal for the Lakers, but there’s also a chance for him to stay while rebuilding the Laker team to championship glory.
Nick deserves to be on a winning Laker team. He sacrificed his starting position last year, only to excel off-the-bench. He is the Lakers’ version of Jamal Crawford. He enters the game, ready for his isolation plays 18′ away from the hoop. Surprisingly, he excelled even when Bryant was on the floor during a short six-game stint.
The Lakers have the options on offense to create shots from the perimeter. Randle may not have the responsibility early on to to carry the scoring load, but at least both he and Jordan Hill can handle the glass on both ends of the floor.
There’s a good athleticism, length, and energy on the current Laker roster. Hopefully the Lakers can harness that into NBA talent and get some wins to attract a free agent for the next off-season.
That being said, welcome back Nick Young.
