Lakers officially sign guard, Jordan Clarkson

After dazzling the crowds at this year’s NBA Summer League, the Lakers’ second round steal, Jordan Clarkson, has officially been signed by the team.

Joining Jeremy Lin and Steve Nash at the one-spot, Clarkson follows Randle, Lin, Boozer and Davis in becoming the fifth summer acquisition for the Purple and Gold. The Lakers acquired Clarkson through the draft by trading up with the Washington Wizards to select Clarkson 46th overall.

At the Las Vegas Summer League, Clarkson shone out, leading the Lakers with 15.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. However, his brightest moment came against the Warriors when Clarkson followed up a Julius Randle miss to tip-in the game-winner as time expired.

Clarkson will likely get substantial playing time with the Lakers as the team is currently only carrying three point guards, and with one of them being Nash, injuries are certainly going to create opportunities for Clarkson. However, if his summer league play is any indication, the Lakers may have found a steal in the second round.

With great scoring attributes and a strong frame for defensive progression, Clarkson could really be a prospect for the future.

Welcome to the team, Jordan!
