Rajon Rondo to Lakers?
On Wednesdays episode of Around the Horn, sportswriter Jackie Macmullan reported that point guard Rajon Rondo wants out of Boston. Rondo has been the subject of trade rumors for quite sometime, but because Boston is going through a rebuilding process, it looks like Rondo doesn’t want to be a part of it.
Rondo will be entering the last year of his contract, which would pressure the Celtics to get something back for him while they can. However, Macmullen believes the Celtics won’t receive anything of equal worth for the four-time all-star and former NBA champion.
The Sacramento Kings are reportedly interested in him, but Rondo has supposedly told the team he is unwilling to re-sign with the team once his current deal expires. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams rumored to be interested in Rondo, but it is not clear if Boston is interested in anything the Lakers have to offer.
The Lakers could wait to see how things play out and try to sign Rondo as a free agent in 2015, but after getting spurned by Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James this past offseason, waiting around may not be the best course of action.
Though the Lakers are currently caring three point guards on their current roster, it is without question Rondo will be an instant upgrade over Steve Nash, Jeremy Lin, and Jordan Clarkson.
