After being hired earlier this summer, new Lakers head coach Byron Scott has to yet to fill out his coaching staff. While he’s had rumored candidates (most notably Gary Payton), he still has multiple openings. On Sunday evening, ESPN’s Marc Stein hinted at the possibility of their newest addition.
"Hearing new Lakers coach Byron Scott is closing on the addition of Igor Kokoskov, one of Europe’s finest coaching exports, to his LA staff– Marc Stein"
While not a name casual or even hardcore NBA fans may be familiar with, Kokosov has done his rounds around the league, most recently as apart of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ staff. With stops also in Phoenix, Detroit, and the Clippers as well as Missouri University, he’s well-qualified for the position.

Kokosov also coaches the Georgian national team, having recently led them to EuroBasket next summer. While Jim Eyen was added earlier this summer to Scott’s staff and Mark Madsen is expected to stay aboard, this sounds like the first significant move and addition.
While the bigger name linked this summer being Payton, nothing more on that front has evolved. Obviously any addition will have their work cut out for them, with the Lakers coming off arguably their worst season in franchise history.
Who do you think the Lakers and Byron Scott should add to the coaching staff?
