Lakers Officially Announce Coaching Staff
By Jacob Rude
The Lakers and Byron Scott have officially announced the coaching staff that will join the new coach for the 2014-15 season.
"Los Angeles Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that Paul Pressey, Jim Eyen and Mark Madsen will serve as assistant coaches on Byron Scott’s staff. Additionally, it was announced that Clay Moser (assistant coach/head advance NBA scout), Larry Lewis (assistant coach/director of player development), Thomas Scott (assistant coach/player development), Tom Bialaszewski (video coordinator/coach), and J.J. Outlaw (video coordinator/player development) will round out Scott’s staff."
For the most part, this is what most have known/expected for a while. Pressey had been with the Cavaliers since 2010, having spent the same role under Scott in Cleveland.
Eyen’s most recent service was apart of the Sacramento Kings under both Paul Westphal and Keith Smart, on the staff through the 2012-13 season.
Madsen was promoted last season from Lakers D-League coach to player development coach, but now will hold a spot on the bench with Scott as an assistant coach. He is one of the few to be retained from Mike D’Antoni‘s staff.
The small surprise exclusion from the staff is Igor Kokoskov, who reportedly earlier in the month was nearing an agreement to join the staff according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
As is, Scott’s staff will have lots of veteran presence with Eyen and Pressey, while also a youngster in Madsen. With training camp roughly two weeks away, we know fans are eagerly awaiting to see what Scott and his staff can do with this roster.
