VIDEO: Jordan Clarkson Workout with KP of Reps on Reps (2min)

Finally, there’s a more detailed video of Jordan Clarkson‘s workout.  The video was released today, September 16th, but Clarkson is taking similar shots that he took during the Vegas Pro League.

No wonder why he did well.

CityLeagueHoopsTV provided great coverage of his workout.

While I’m not the biggest fan of his shot pocket or arc, Jordan Clarkson is putting the reps in and making the jump shots look good.  Most NBA players are great in catch-and-shoot situations.  It’s far more difficult to find players that are equally good shooting off-the-dribble and during catch-and-shoot situations.

Jordan Clarkson is using various fundamentals throughout the work out.  Rip-throughs, step-backs, crossovers, stutter-steps, and hesitations are all moves done before the shot is taken.  More importantly, these are NBA-level drills.  None of the shots taken require more than two dribbles to get a shot off.  This allows a player in isolation situations to create space, maintain balance, and create a shot within a limited time-frame and area of the floor.  Notice how he is using the fundamentals at different corners of the floor as well.

Excuse me, but is that a LeBron step-back jumper at the 0:44 mark?

The second part of the video is all about getting past a defender in mid-transition.  Cones are set up at the three-point line.  Clarkson makes a move at the cones, and attacks the basket.

Earlier in the month, I wrote about Jordan Clarkson becoming the next Nick Van Exel.  Van Exel didn’t have the greatest field goal percentage, but he played with style, flair, and energy.  He was willing to take shots when the game is on the line.

Jordan Clarkson is taking shots in that work out, that Van Exel didn’t show until later in his career.  Like Van Exel, he played with a high level of energy during the Vegas Pro League, and was easily the most consistent player of the team.

One thing is for sure.  He’s doing everything he can to be a more complete player.
