All Lakers story lines coming into this season will be dominated with Kobe Bryant news. After his season was ended with an Achilles injury two years ago, last year was cut short by a fractured bone in his knee.
With a summer full of recuperation and revitalization, Kobe Bryant is ready to go. On ESPN710 on Lakers media day, he talked about how he feels health-wise
"I feel like me. I think that’s the most important part. When you have injuries and come back and have to think through things, you don’t feel right. You’re constantly processing things. Now I don’t have to do that, I can just come out and play."
The other big storyline regarding his injury is a possible minute’s restriction. With Bryant’s pride and stubbornness well-documented, many expect a butting of heads with head coach Byron Scott. Bryant refuted that idea:
"I don’t think it’s a big deal. The misinterpretation is I’m hellbent on playing. No, I’m hellbent on winning. The standpoint on expecting limitations is something I’m comfortable with. I think it’s always interesting to me that everyone looks at it from a black and white prospective. In a close game, those minutes are going to be higher. But we’ll make up for the next game. We’ll balance it out."
The last big note from Bryant’s interview came when talking about the difference in D’Antoni and Byron Scott, who Bryant often made a case for.
"Last year, D’Antoni and I didn’t have the same philosophy on winning. For me, it’s win or it’s a failure, a lost season. Byron has the same mindset. It’s a championship or a waste of time…The common denominator is the same. Either your willing to do whatever it takes to win, or we won’t get along. It’s simple as that."
