Lakers Training Camp: Henry sits out; Kelly out indefinitely
By Harry Burden
As reported by Serena Winters of Lakers Nation, Xavier Henry has sat out of the Lakers’ second morning practice of this year’s training camp. Yesterday, he was forced to the sidelines due to back spasms and, although unconfirmed, the same issue is likely to be behind his rest today.
After missing extended periods of playing time during his first season with the Purple and Gold, Henry will be hoping to stay as healthy as possible after being given a lifeline by Los Angeles. However, such an issue shouldn’t affect him for too long and if all goes well, he is likely to be available for the season opener against the Rockets on October 29th.
UPDATE:
In the past few minutes, Winters has also reported that Ryan Kelly‘s left hamstring has suffered a moderate strain. He is out indefinitely from said injury; we await confirmation of both of these issues from today’s practice, obviously.
Whilst the extent of his injury remains to be seen, Coach Scott has Carlos Boozer, Julius Randle and Ed Davis at his disposal at the four, so such an issue isn’t likely to hamper the team too greatly.
Regardless of the severity of the injuries, this is certainly not a sign Lakers fans want to see after two injury-riddled seasons.
