The Celtics and Pistons completed a trade that sent Joel Anthony to Detroit for Will Bynum, and it appears the Celtics are likely to waive the guard.
"Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and guard Will Bynum are expected to meet on Saturday, according to two NBA sources, and the team is likely to waive Bynum, who was acquired Friday from the Detroit Pistons."
The 31-year old had spent the majority of his career in Detroit. Last season, he averaged 8.7 points and 3.9 assists on 42.8% field goal shooting and 32.3% 3-point shooting.
In the past, the Lakers have shown interest in Bynum, dating back to last summer.
The Lakers could use all the scoring punch they could find given their onset of injuries. Considering Bynum plays the point guard position, which the Lakers could very well carry four players at this year, he could be a nice commodity. He certainly is an offensive upgrade over Ronnie Price, who will likely make his second consecutive start for the Lakers tonight.
However, like most of the players on this roster, Bynum does little to help on the defensive end, giving the Lakers yet another defensive liability. But with the Lakers possibly looking for ways to replace Nick Young‘s scoring in his absence, Bynum could be a cheap option.
